A magical Egyptian themed chess board from the Italian craftsmen at Italfama.

The might and majesty of Ancient Egypt is stylishly implemented into this one-of-a-kind luxury chess set.

Ancient Egyptian board games are as popular now as they have ever been. The rise of 'Egyptomania' in 19th century Victorian Britain gave way to a national obsession with all things Egypt. Tomb-raiding explorers and historians from the West, including the era's leading Egyptian archaeologist Flinders Petrie (essentially a real life Indiana Jones!) unearthed and discovered enormous amounts of beautiful treasures from the ancient empire of Egypt.

Egypt fever gripped the nation at the same time as the iconic Staunton chess designs standardized and popularized chess in Britain. The ancient Egyptian game of Senet was not discovered until the 1930s and so chess was still the number one ancient board game at the time.

The expert artisan chess craftsmen at Italfama in Florence, Italy have created these simply stunning Ancient Egyptian themed pieces, skillfully crafted from resin, and hand-painted to give the level of detail that has to be seen to be believed. This set is sure to be a hit with any fans of ancient history, mythology and mysticism.

We have paired these chessmen together with uniquely sleek and stylish charcoal grey Erable and Elm high gloss board.. This is a set of exemplary quality.
