This fine quality set combines the unique Blackmore Series Sheesham chess pieces with a high quality walnut and maple board. The chess pieces have been sourced from the finest craftsmen. They have been turned and carved from clean grain Boxwood and Sheesham - a rich wood that has attractive grains and tones. The design of the chess pieces encompasses a unique shank. While the design is traditional Staunton, the straight shanks have become curved, and vice versa. The result is that the rook is the most distinctive and original pieces of the set with a smooth curved body, unlike the usual tapered design. The pieces are weighted in their bases to acquire just the right balance.
The board is one of our fine Spanish Deluxe Walnut and Maple offerings which has excellent quality and perfect finish. It features a satin finish which contrasts against the polished hardwood chess pieces with complementary tones and grains. This is a large set that measures almost 22 inches across and it will display very nicely in any home.
